This is an exciting time of year for our state chapter! With the changing of the guard just right around the corner, I would like you to take a moment to reflect on what ripples you have started this year. Have those ripples progressed into the waves that you set out to make? Some goals can be achieved in very little time, such as inviting someone to your monthly education meeting, while other goals may take years to achieve, such as educational and career related goals.

I’ve been reflecting on the past 12 months and have found myself asking what goals did I meet this year and what goals do I want to carry forward into 2012?  One of my goals was to focus more energy towards what is important in my life; to stop wasting my time on things that just don’t matter in the long run.  After putting our families, homes and jobs first, I know that we have very little resources and energy left to commit to our other passions.  I am proud that NALS is a passion that I chose to devote precious energy to.

Greetings from Prescott! The Arizona summer is upon us and it is getting hot around the state! I just can’t believe that my first three months as your State President is almost over. It seems that these past few months have really flown by. As I’m writing to you, I’ve been reflecting on what goals I’ve set and what steps I’ve made so far to reach those goals. My theme this year is Make a Ripple, Make a Wave. Have you started your ripple? Have you invited your coworker or a fellow legal professional to a local meeting? Have you sat with a guest at your local meeting to make introductions and help them feel comfortable? Take these small steps and share your passion for NALS!

You can also make your ripple in your community.

As I look back on my year as NALS of Arizona President, I do so with pride for our leadership team and our membership.  I began my year by challenging you to Be the best you can be, Inspire others, Network, Gather knowledge, and Observe the rules of professional conduct –
B-I-N-G-O.  Everyone was given a NALS Bingo card to make tracking involvement in NALS fun.  Hopefully you have put it to good use and BINGO’d throughout the year.

I cannot believe 2010 is almost over!  It seems like just yesterday we were gathering in Phoenix for the Annual Spring Conference and Installation Banquet and getting our first look at the NALS Bingo Card.  Have you BINGO’d?  If you have, then you are in luck!  One lucky NALS member will receive a paid registration (up to $100 value) to the NALS of Arizona Winter Conference at the Desert Diamond Casino on February 11-12, 2011!  Could it be you???  Let’s find out!

Our NALS of Arizona Winter Conference is just months away – February 11-12, 2011! The flyer and registration form have been uploaded onto the NALS of Arizona website. The theme is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and our conference committee has scheduled some excellent speakers! So sign up today and make sure to reserve your hotel room right away.

As I get ready to leave for the National Conference in Branson and decide what seminars I will attend, I have been thinking about the wonderful opportunities for CLE available right here in Arizona.

If you have not signed up for NALS of Arizona’s Survivor Course being held on November 5, 2010 at the Black Canyon Conference Center, there is still time!  We are offering this seminar live or via webinar – the choice is yours!  We are offering 5 hours of CLE, including Ethics, Software in the Law Office and a panel of Judicial Assistants.  We will also be drawing for door prizes – so you don’t want to miss out!

We also have our NALS of Arizona Winter Conference on February 11 and 12, 2011 at the Desert Diamond Casino Hotel and Resort in Tucson, Arizona.  This conference is another opportunity to earn that coveted CLE.  The welcome party begins Friday evening and the CLE sessions are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday.  As always, we will have raffle prizes and a variety of vendors for you to shop.  Make plans to arrive on Friday and stay all weekend!  More details to come!

Both of these educational opportunities are available to you right here in our own backyard!  Not only will you earn CLE credit for your certification or CLE award, but you will be filing up your BINGO cards and having fun doing it!

I hope to see you at a NALS of Arizona event soon!

As you can see, we are trying something new on the State level and hope that it is useful for everyone.  We were looking for a way to get news about NALS out to our members on a more regular basis and are excited about having our monthly email blasts!  We will be including information about upcoming seminars around the state and any information we receive regarding regional and national conferences.

We are still in the process of developing exactly what content will be included, so if there is something particular you would like to see, please let us know – we are always grateful for any feedback we get from our members.  Enjoy!
