Simply click on the option you are most comfortable with and follow the instructions. Remember that by joining NALS you are agreeing to be bound by the NALS Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility as well as the NALS Bylaws and Standing Rules.

NALS was formed in 1929 and was incorporated in 1949 and has been dedicated to members of the legal community ever since. By providing exceptional education opportunities and networking arenas, NALS has continued to be THE association for legal professionals. Whether you are a legal secretary in a local small firm or a senior paralegal in a global firm, NALS will offer you opportunities to grow your career. NALS offers sessions and conferences nationwide providing expert education and professional development opportunities.

Along with the education and professional development opportunities, NALS members become part of the family. While tangible benefits are always great, NALS offers you the opportunity to belong to the oldest association for legal support professionals and is the only association that is all-inclusive, giving you a home whether you stay on your current path or branch out into a new opportunity in the field. We feel that by including legal secretaries, paralegals, and legal assistants we can offer a broad perspective on the industry and allow everyone to learn from one another and build their personal networks across all levels.

Students and Educators

Membership in NALS is a vital step towards achieving professional excellence. Students are entitled to many benefits afforded regular members such as discounts on educational materials and products and discounts on seminars and conferences. In addition to the $19 per year student membership, NALS also offers an associate membership to educators for $53 per year which will include a subscription to the NALS magazine for legal professionals, @Law.

Joining now will give students a head start in gaining employment and credibility in the legal profession. Membership in NALS will demonstrate to perspective employers professionalism and dedication and will make them look at your program for future employees.

NALS offers continuing legal education regardless of career path within the legal profession. Show your students the medium for their continued learning process. Help them to understand and feel comfortable leaving their educational program for the real world of employment and career growth.

There is a life line for legal professionals and that life line is NALS. With state and local chapters located across the United States there are endless networking opportunities. NALS national and regional conferences give members the opportunity to extend their network in the legal community from coast to coast.

NALS also offers its popular Online Learning Center which covers new topics each week via a chat room located on the NALS website.

This format allows members and students to compare notes across the country on topics affecting their careers. There is also an Online Study Group for those preparing for the ALS, PLS or PP exam.
