Greetings from Prescott! The Arizona summer is upon us and it is getting hot around the state! I just can’t believe that my first three months as your State President is almost over. It seems that these past few months have really flown by. As I’m writing to you, I’ve been reflecting on what goals I’ve set and what steps I’ve made so far to reach those goals. My theme this year is Make a Ripple, Make a Wave. Have you started your ripple? Have you invited your coworker or a fellow legal professional to a local meeting? Have you sat with a guest at your local meeting to make introductions and help them feel comfortable? Take these small steps and share your passion for NALS!

You can also make your ripple in your community.
There are so many opportunities for us to contribute and give back to our local communities, the possibilities really are endless! If you have a favorite charity, think about what you can do to make a difference. You can become very involved (volunteering on a monthly basis) or just commit to a one day project, it’s your choice. I am hopeful that we will all make a commitment to improving our community by volunteering!

What is new with NALS? I am sure that you know that NALS is now offering Specialty Certificates! Staying in line with the new CLE tracks that NALS will be offering at its education conferences and through its webinars, the Specialty Certificates can be obtained in the areas of:

1.  Litigation / Civil Law,

2.  Corporate Law,

3.  Estate Planning / Family Law, and

4.  General Law.

To be eligible for a Specialty Certificate, you must have a current PP or PLS certification and have earned a minimum of 50 hours of CLE in one of the designated tracks within your 5 year PP / PLS certification period.  Additional information and the Application can be found at www.nals.org.

Have you registered for the NALS 60th Annual Education Conference and National Forum in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 13-16 yet? Over 15 hours of CLE will be offered in each of the specialty tracks at the conference. The deadline to register before the rate goes up again is August 1! You still have time!

NALS is encouraging its members to Engage 5 again this year with its Membership Campaign. If you sign up 5 new members this year, NALS will waive your national membership dues! Or, if your firm pays for your membership dues or you are a life member, NALS will give you at $98 credit voucher that can be used towards NALS webinars, conference registrations, or in the NALS store! The new members must be in the same membership classification. Once you have your five new members, complete and submit the waiver form found on the NALS website and you will be a NALS Super Star (just like our very own NALS of Arizona member Audrey Saxton, PLS)! Be sure to Engage your 5 new members this year!

Anne Jack, PP, PLS
